buckle up

in this twisted tussle
between curiosity and self-preservation
it isn't simply about
what he wants

the virginity of the experience
of being deeply intoxicated
lie desolated

the signs seem radiant
but yet
through experience and wiser judgement
sensibility prevails

emotions are a convoluted mess
tangles of deceit and distrust
his personal perception of romance
becomes his undoing

he once believed that all
should wear their hearts on their sleeves
that veiled secrets should be done away with
that there should be no such thing as hidden affairs

in his eyes

perceived perfection

the scandals abound
rumours wafting in the wind
and beneath the exterior
his pysche steadies

willing logic to override
ethos fading
his calibre seems
not as it once was

but then again
it was
after all

with an air of resignation
leaving all to faith and fate
and in letting life run its course
he realises:
resistance is futile

his core begins the encryption

his own doing

cold gravel speckled with red
the pathway
lit dimly by a flickering fluorescent
there lay a soul, defeated

the instrument
metal: cold and unfeeling
it had only been an issue of administration
he yielded to the quick and clean

it snaked down his forearm
tainting the leather
tarnishing the buckle
of his treasured time piece

not that he cared really
hell, he didn't even notice
the cosmetics of Cindy's choice
faded in priority

the apparent executive
the consuming insensibility
the mindless rat race
all ended with unnatural surgery

the river of red
still pulsated with life
still embodied a breathing spirit
but it was waning; any time now

he relished the moment
strangely feeling no pain
no agony
he was, in short, senseless

then he saw her
the lady with a celestial aura
one might find it contradictory
but she went by the calling: Angel of Death

he managed a weak smile
(the sheer effort seemed to waste him)
eyes glazed over
an unfamiliar zen had shrouded his being
he was learning to let go

as she coaxed him from life's weakening grip
he offered no resistance
the blade feel from his hand, limp
the clatter shattering the silence

if only they could see him now
wasting away in the filth
ashes to ashes
dust to dust

the karma mocked him mercilessly

looking through your eyes

Look at the sky tell me what do you see

Just close your eyes and describe it to me

The heavens are sparkling with starlight tonight

That's what i see through your eyes

I see the heavens each time that you smile

I hear your heartbeat just go on for miles

And suddenly i know why life is worthwhile

That's what i see through your eyes

That's what i see through your eyes

Here in the night, i see the sun

Here in the dark, our two hearts are one

Its out of our hands, we can't stop what we have begun

And love just took me by surprise,

looking through your eyes

I see a night i wish could last forever

I see a world we're meant to see together

And it is so much more than i remember

More than i remember

More than i have known

Here in the night, i see the sun

Here in the dark, our two hearts are one

Its out of our hands, we can't stop what we have begun

And love just took me by surprise,

Looking through your eyes

just the two of us
